Iran’s Strategic Rise in the Regional Vaccine Ecosystem

On the eve of the 1st International Congress on Vaccines and Vaccination (ICVV 2026), Dr. SReza Banihashemi emphasized that the geopolitical shifts of 2025 have fundamentally challenged long-standing assumptions about global health governance.
Highlighting the critical role of regionalization in the emerging health order, he stated:
“Recent global crises have demonstrated that building strong regional blocs is the most effective pathway to achieving sustainable economic scale, reliable biosecurity, and enhanced national resilience.”
Referring to Iran’s historical and technological capabilities in vaccine development, Dr. Bani Hashemi added:
- “With a century of continuous vaccine production and a rapidly advancing innovation ecosystem, Iran is prepared to serve as the backbone of the regional vaccine network, ensuring health security not only within its borders but also across neighboring countries.”
- Designed as the premier scientific-industrial event of the region, ICVV 2026 will bring together global leaders of science, policymakers, biotech industries, and innovators to shape a new regional framework for cooperation in health.
